The European Language Label was established as an initiative of the European Commission and has been awarded in the Czech Republic since 2002 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research for exceptional and innovative language education projects that creatively contribute to improving the quality of language education, motivating students and making the best use of resources to expand the range of languages.

What is the goal of the EJCL?

  • To promote high-quality, innovative projects in the field of language education.
  • To inspire other teachers to adopt new language teaching methods.
  • To increase the motivation of pupils and students to study foreign languages.
  • To inspire language teaching professionals, teachers, school heads, school founders, and other individuals in the field of language teaching through an online database of all award-winning projects by presenting “examples of good practice” in the field of language teaching.

In 2020 there were set the following priorities:

1/ Improving access to linguistic diversity, developing inclusion in schools, and supporting teachers and school leaders.

2/ Removing language barriers in order to create dynamic border regions.

3/ Languages in lifelong learning.

4/ Foreign language as a means of acquiring and expanding competencies and skills.

Forty-six projects were entered in the competition, and 7 of them won the European Language Label Award 2020.

We thank all the collaborators and teachers who helped the Math Exercises for You (Math4U) project become one of the seven award-winning projects.
